Welcome to the Supervisor Training and Approval Program (STAP), facilitated and run by Benchmark Psychology Pty Ltd (ACN 161 852 820) (referred to as "the Provider", "Benchmark", "we", "us", or "our"). By purchasing, enrolling in, or accessing STAP, you (referred to as "the student", "trainee", "complainant", or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1.1. Program Structure: STAP is designed to train psychologists in Australia to become Board Approved Supervisors. The program consists of three (3) mandatory components:
Part 1: A self-paced online component delivered via our Learning Management System (LMS).
Part 2: A two (2) day workshop (delivered either face-to-face or online).
Part 3: An evaluation of a video submission reviewed by our designated assessors/evaluators.
Part 4: A suite of one (1) day masterclasses (delivered either face-to-face or online) where one must be selected and completed no less than every five (5) years.
1.2. Regulatory Eligibility (PsyBA/AHPRA): STAP provides the educational framework and tools required to achieve supervisor status, but it is strictly your responsibility to ensure you meet the pre-requisites and baseline criteria set out by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Despite the training, it remains the responsibility of the student to ensure they are eligible for Board Approved Supervisor status, and to apply for such.
2.1. Payment Terms: Full payment is required at the time of registration. Benchmark does not offer or permit payment plans for STAP.
2.2. Program Expiration: You have exactly six (6) months from your date of initial purchase to fully complete all three components of STAP (LMS, Workshop, and Video Evaluation). If you fail to complete the program within this window, your enrolment will expire, and no extensions or refunds will be granted. Students may apply for an extension, and this will be granted or rejected at the absolute discretion of STAP.
2.3. Refund Policy: If you complete the self-paced online LMS component and decide not to proceed with the remaining components of the training, you are entitled to a partial refund. This refund will be equivalent to the commercial value of the uncompleted components, minus a flat administration fee of $50. Once you attend any portion of the 2-day workshop, no refunds will be issued.
2.4 Order of Completion: It is a policy of the psychology board that each component needs to be completed before the next component can be undertaken. If components are taken out of order, and board approved supervisor status is denied, this is the responsibility of the learner.
3.1. Student-Initiated Rescheduling: If you need to change your registered workshop dates, the following rules apply based on the delivery format:
Online Workshops: Can be rescheduled outside of seven (7) days from the start date at no cost. Rescheduling within seven (7) days of the workshop start date will incur an administration fee of $50.
Face-to-Face Workshops: Because we incur upfront catering and venue costs, any request to reschedule or cancel your attendance within seven (7) days of the workshop start date will incur a late change fee of $100. Requests made outside of seven (7) days will incur no fee.
3.2. Provider Cancellation: STAP reserves the right to cancel or postpone any scheduled workshop with at least thirty (30) days' notice due to low student enrolment. In the event of unforeseen or extenuating circumstances (e.g., facilitator illness, severe weather, emergency), STAP reserves the right to cancel a workshop at shorter notice. In either scenario, you will be re-enrolled into a future workshop of your choice at no extra cost. Benchmark is not liable for any secondary or consequential losses, including but not limited to unrecoverable travel expenses, accommodation costs, or compensation for time taken off work.
4.1. Submission Deadline: You must submit your video for evaluation within ninety (90) calendar days (not working days) following the completion of your 2-day workshop. Failure to submit within this timeframe may result in a forfeit of your evaluation slot.
4.2. Satisfactory Performance & Re-submissions: If an evaluator deems your video submission unsatisfactory, you will fail that component. To complete the program, you must pay a mandatory re-submission/re-evaluation marking fee (equivalent to the full price of component 3) before submitting a new video for review.
4.3 Number of Resubmissions: You are permitted to resubmit on three occasions within the 6 month period from the date of commencement of the program. You are able to apply for extensions to the deadline and this will be approved at the discretion of STAP.
5.1. Prohibited Account Sharing: Your LMS account login credentials are strictly personal to you. Sharing your account access, passwords, or course modules with any third party is strictly prohibited and constitutes a material breach of these Terms, resulting in immediate termination of access without a refund.
5.2. Permitted Usage & Restrictions: All training slides, manuals, videos, checklists, and PDFs provided during STAP are the exclusive intellectual property of Benchmark or its content creators. You are granted a limited, personal license to download and retain these materials for your direct, personal professional use as a supervisor. You must not resell, modify, copy, redistribute, publicize, or create derivative versions of any training materials without explicit, prior written consent from Benchmark.
6.1. LMS Downtime: While Benchmark strives to ensure continuous, uninterrupted access to the self-paced training platform, the software is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We are not liable for temporary, short-term technical outages, internet disruptions, server maintenance windows, or system downtime beyond our immediate control. We will act reasonably to restore services promptly.
By agreeing to these Terms, you acknowledge that your training participation is governed by our specialised internal frameworks, which take precedence over generalised consumer disputes:
7.1. Academic & Grading Reviews: Any disputes regarding your awarded grades, feedback, or results from the video evaluation cannot be handled as a general complaint. They must explicitly follow the 6-step review structure set out in the STAP Assessment Review Procedure.
Step 1 & 2: You must review the task criteria, marking standards, and feedback, and attempt to resolve the issue informally through an initial discussion with the assigned evaluator.
Step 3: If unresolved, you must formally submit a Request for Review of Grade form within the specified procedural timeframes.
Step 4 & 5: An independent, nominated Decision Maker will weigh submissions from both you and the Marker to render an academic determination within ten (10) business days.
Step 6: Final escalation on grounds of procedural fairness may be made to the designated Program Overseer, whose ultimate decision is binding and final.
7.2. Student Complaints Policy: For non-academic grievances concerning the conduct of staff, fellow students, or delivery of services, you agree to submit to the formal 9-step resolution process outlined in the Student Complaints Procedure and Student Complaints Policy below
- All parties are expected to communicate civilly, with mutual respect, and attempt an informal resolution first. Aggressive or defamatory language will stall the process.
- Formal complaints must be lodged using the Student Complaint Form within twelve (12) months of the event.
- Complaints determined by the assigned Decision Maker to be frivolous, vexatious, dishonest, or harassing will be dismissed immediately.
- If internal reviews by the Decision Maker and Overseer fail to reach an agreeable outcome, you have a right to request an External Review by an independent consultant, the costs of which must be shared equally between the Provider and you.
7.3. Privacy and Data Security: All personal information, billing details, academic tracking records, and assessment material collected throughout your time with STAP will be handled strictly in accordance with Benchmark’s Privacy Policy.
- Data is managed in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988.
- Your academic details, reporting data, and assessment exemplars may be retained or disclosed to authorised external bodies like the PsyBA, AHPRA, or IT cloud service providers operating securely overseas.
Student Complaints Procedure
The procedure to be followed in dealing with complaints made pursuant to the Student Complaints Policy is set out in this document.
This procedure does not apply to complaints involving allegations of bullying, harassment and discrimination by staff which will be dealt with in the Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination Policy and Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination Procedure.
Nor does it apply to requests for reviews or appeals of decisions by STAP staff or the Provider, which are dealt with in the Student Review & Appeals Policy and Student Review & Appeals Procedure.
Procedure
Step 1. Resolve the problem informally. Complainants should, at first instance, attempt to resolve the issue informally by contacting the person concerned directly. This may be done by:
- writing a letter or email detailing the Complainant’s concerns setting out the way in which the Complainant would like to see the situation rectified and requesting that the situation be rectified in that manner; or
- requesting a staff member or student representative to raise the matter with the individual on their behalf.
Step 2. If Step 1 does not resolve the issue the Complainant should submit a Student Complaint Form (this form can be requested from STAP admin). All relevant supporting information and documents must be attached to the Student Complaint Form.
Step 3. The Recipient of Complaint will pass it on to the Overseer who will nominate the Decision Maker and acknowledge to the Complainant the receipt of the complaint, within 5 business days of the complaint being delivered to the Recipient of Complaint.
Step 4. The Decision Maker will investigate the complaint. Investigation may involve:
- calling for further information from the Complainant;
- advising the Respondent of the complaint and providing them with copies of all material provided by the Complainant;
- the Respondent will be given 10 business days to respond in writing and provide any information or documentation they wish to rely upon in response to the complaint;
- interviewing the Complainant in company with a support person within 5 business days of receiving the Respondent’s material; and
- interviewing the Respondent in company with a support person within 5 business days of interviewing the Complainant.
Step 5. The Decision Maker will advise the Complainant and Respondent of the outcome of the investigation, the action recommended as a result of the investigation and all findings within 10 business days of interviewing the Respondent.
Step 6. If the Complainant or Respondent believe that they have grounds to believe that the investigation or the decision by the Decision Maker were not conducted or made in accordance with procedural fairness or in accordance with the Student Complaints Policy, they can refer the matter to the Overseer together with any material in support of their assertion.
Step 7. The Overseer will review the matter and deliver to the parties within 10 business days their decision in relation to that review.
Step 8. If the Complainant or Respondent believe they have grounds to believe that the Overseer’s decision was not arrived at in accordance with the Student Complaints Policy they can, within 5 business days of the receipt of the Overseer’s decision, notify the Overseer that they require an external review at the joint cost of the Provider and the party requesting the review.
Step 9. Within 5 business days of receipt of the request for external review, the Overseer will appoint an external consultant to conduct a review of the Overseer’s decision. The decision of the external review shall be final and binding on all parties.
